CLINICAL GOVERNANCE

Governance in healthcare is referred to as clinical governance. Clinical governance is a system through which health organizations are accountable for continuously improving the quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care  will flourish.

An overarching framework covering all activities that help sustain and improve high standards of patient care . Pillars that form the framework in clinical gov ernance are as follows;

The key components of clinical governance encompasses; quality assurance, quality improvement, risk and incident management.

While, the three pillars of governance model are; Transparency, Accountability and Security which are critical in successfully running an organization and forming solid professional relationships among its stakeholders.

Transparency  – means having nothing to hide. For an organization, this means it allows its processes and transactions observable to outsiders, to enhance the faith of investors.

Accountability  – Shareholders are always willing to know as WHO will take responsibilities and come forward in case something goes wrong, accountability covers not only failings, but also accomplishments.

Security – An organization without adequate security measures will have a hard time attracting shareholders. After all, any scandal even a breach caused by third-party hackers – can result in big loss to an organization. Security of data is a must.
